  •     five-6 ouncesfreshly grated cheddar cheese (see notes)
  •     three cups broccoli florets (steamed or blanched)
  •     8 ozdry pasta
  •     1/four cup  unsalted butter
  •     1/4  cup all reason flour
  •     2 cups whole milk (room temperature or warmed)
  •     1/4 tsp salt
  •     1/four tsp  garlic powder
  •     1/8  tsp black pepper
  •     additional salt and pepper to taste, if favored

Instructions

  1. Pre-heat oven to 350 ranges F.

  2. Measure out all of your components, chop your broccoli, and grate your cheese.

  3. Boil pasta according to package deal instructions (times will vary a smidge via brand/shape) until al dente. Drain and set apart one finished.

  4. While the pasta chefs, start your sauce and broccoli.

  5. Cook broccoli via your favored method. I'm a large fan of quick blanching broccoli in boiling hot water until the florets flip vibrant green and tender.

  6. For the sauce, soften half of stick of butter (1/4 cup) over medium warmth.

  7. Add flour and whisk continuously even as the flour chefs off into a roux, approx. Three minutes.

  8. Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper, to flavor.

  9. Slowly pour in your room temperature milk, whisking continuously till smooth and completely incorporated. Remove from warmth. Sauce will thicken  because it rests.

  10. Add pasta and broccoli florets to a nine-inch baking dish.

  11. Sprinkle 5-6 oz. Of freshly grated cheese on pinnacle of the pasta.

  12. Pour your cream sauce over the noodles and cheese. Use a rubber spatula to fold all of it together. Feel loose to top with a bit greater cheese in case you'd like, then top with bacon.

  13. Bake on center rack at 350 F for 20 minutes, till hot and bubbly.
